Guide to Playing Pickleball at Singapore Community Clubs (CCs)
Most people looking for pickleball courts in Singapore head straight to commercial venues or ActiveSG. But there is a third option that flies under the radar: your neighbourhood Community Club.
CCs across Singapore have multi-purpose halls with badminton courts, and a growing number of them now allow pickleball. The best part? You can play for as little as $4 to $10 per hour. That is a fraction of what commercial courts charge.
Here is everything you need to know about playing pickleball at CCs in Singapore.
---
Why Play Pickleball at a Community Club?
The short answer: it is cheap.
Commercial pickleball courts in Singapore typically cost $20 to $40 per hour. Even ActiveSG courts, which are already considered affordable, start at $3.50/hr for outdoor courts but go up to $15-20/hr for sheltered ones.
CC courts sit in that sweet spot. You get an indoor, sheltered space for $4 to $10 per hour depending on the CC and whether you have a PA (People's Association) membership. Split that four ways for doubles, and each player pays $1 to $2.50 per session. That is less than a plate of chicken rice.
The trade-off? These are not dedicated pickleball courts. You are playing on badminton courts with temporary nets, availability can be limited, and each CC has its own quirks. More on that below.

Which Community Clubs Allow Pickleball?
PA (People's Association) publishes an official list of CCs approved for pickleball on their badminton courts. This list is subject to change, so always check the OnePA website for the latest info.
Below are the CCs we know allow pickleball. The first 7 are on PA's official approved list. CCs marked with ^ require you to book the entire hall.
PA-Approved CCs
#### Cairnhill Community Club ^
Cairnhill CC near Newton MRT has badminton courts approved for pickleball. You need to book both badminton courts (the entire hall) to get enough space for a proper game. That doubles the cost per session, but even at $8-20 total it is still cheaper than most commercial options.

How to Book a CC Court via OnePA
All Community Club facilities are managed through the OnePA system. Here is how to book:
1. Go to onepa.gov.sg/facilities. 2. Search for the specific CC you want (e.g. "Bishan CC"). 3. Look for available hall or badminton court bookings. 4. Select your preferred time slot and book online. 5. Pay via the OnePA portal.
You will need a OnePA account to book, which requires a SingPass login. PA members get cheaper rates, so it is worth signing up for PA membership if you plan to play regularly. The membership is free for Singapore citizens and PRs.
A few things to keep in mind:
- Availability is limited. CCs have many activities competing for hall time. Pickleball may only be available on certain days or times.
- Book early. Popular slots fill up fast, especially evenings and weekends.
- Walk-ins are possible. Some CCs allow walk-in bookings if there are empty slots. Call ahead to check.
The Quirks of Playing at CCs
Playing pickleball at a CC is not quite the same as playing at a dedicated venue. Here is what to expect:
- You are playing on badminton courts. No permanent pickleball lines or nets. The court is slightly larger than standard pickleball size. Some players bring portable nets, others adjust the badminton net height. It works, but it is not tournament-standard.
- Each CC has its own rules. Bishan only allows pickleball on certain days. Cairnhill, Hillview, and Toa Payoh East require you to book the entire hall. Toa Payoh South has interest groups that may have priority during certain slots. Always call ahead before showing up.
- Bring your own everything. CCs do not provide paddles, balls, or nets. If you are just starting out, beginner paddle sets start from around $30-50 on Shopee or Lazada.
- Noise can be an issue. Pickleball is louder than badminton, and CCs are in residential areas. Some CCs may restrict hours or limit play to reduce noise complaints. Be respectful of this.
CC Courts vs ActiveSG vs Commercial: How Do They Compare?
| Feature | CC Courts | ActiveSG | Commercial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Price | $4-10/hr | $3.50-20/hr | $16-50/hr |
| Court Type | Shared badminton | Dedicated pickleball | Dedicated pickleball |
| Indoor/Outdoor | Indoor | Mostly outdoor | Both |
| Equipment | BYO | BYO | Some rent |
| Booking | OnePA | ActiveSG app | Varies |
| Availability | Limited | Moderate | Good |
Choose CC courts if: you want the cheapest indoor option and are flexible with timing.
Choose ActiveSG if: you want dedicated outdoor pickleball courts at affordable prices and don't mind the weather.
Choose commercial if: you want guaranteed availability, dedicated courts, air-conditioning, and don't mind paying more for the experience.

Tips for Playing Pickleball at Community Clubs
- Check OnePA regularly. Availability changes week to week. Bookmark the OnePA facilities page and check it often.
- Join interest groups. CCs like Toa Payoh South have pickleball interest groups that organise regular sessions. Built-in group to play with, and sometimes priority booking.
- Go during off-peak hours. Weekday mornings and early afternoons have the best availability. Evening and weekend slots are harder to get.
- Bring a portable net. If the CC does not have a pickleball net, a portable one (around $50-80 on Shopee) lets you play anywhere there is space.
- Get PA membership. Free for citizens and PRs. Gives you lower booking rates at all CCs.
- Be a good neighbour. Keep noise levels reasonable, especially during evening sessions. This helps ensure CCs continue to welcome pickleball players.
